Dog Sad After Being Picked Up Last From Daycare

A heartwarming video has captured the internet’s attention, featuring a golden retriever named Lincoln who was visibly sad after being picked up last from daycare.

The footage, which has garnered over 2.2 million views on TikTok, depicts the dog’s visible distress after being the last one picked up from daycare.

The video, captioned “When all your friends leave daycare,” shows the golden retriever, Lincoln, looking dejected with his head down and avoiding eye contact with a woman identified by Newsweek as a daycare worker who was squatting near him patting him and attempting to comfort him.

While the video didn’t explain the reason why the dog was picked up last, Newsweek reports that the dog’s owner, Bunger, said she had not arrived late. She reportedly noted that the daycare closes by 6 p.m. and she had gone to pick up Lincoln around 5:45 PM, slightly later than her usual time of 5:15 PM or 5:30 PM.

“The day care is open until 6 p.m., and I typically show up around 5:15 or 5:30, but I had a late call that day and arrived about 5:45 (I didn’t think I was that late!),” Bunger reportedly said.

“But he seemed to forgive his mommy pretty quick as the girls gave him extra treats on his way out. He then proceeded to get a lot of extra love that night.”

Bunger expressed her deep distress at seeing Lincoln’s emotional response. “At first, I was devastated. It was like a knife to the heart; I felt like the worst mommy!” she shared. However, the reunion was filled with joy as Lincoln’s mood instantly brightened upon seeing his owner.

To make up for the emotional ordeal, Bunger treated Lincoln to a pup cup the following day. The subsequent video of Lincoln enjoying his sweet treat has further endeared him to viewers.

The caption, “Mom eventually picked me up and got me this pup cup because she felt bad,” highlighted the owner’s efforts to make things right.

The video has sparked numerous comments, with many viewers expressing empathy for Lincoln’s situation. One user wrote, “I know his pain. I used to hate being the last one to get picked up in kindergarten.” Another shared, “Golden are so dramatic and I love them.” Many others commented on their own experiences with their pets, highlighting the deep bond between humans and their furry companions.

The video however has generally ignited conversations about the emotional depth of animals and the crucial role of human-pet bonds.

Lincoln’s reaction after being the last one picked up from daycare vividly showcases the range of emotions dogs can experience, from sadness and loneliness to anxiety. It prompts us to question how we can better understand and address the emotional needs of our furry friends.

Another discussion sparked by the video is the importance of providing pets with love and attention. Lincoln’s visible distress highlights the strong bond between dogs and dog owners. The video serves as a reminder that pets are not merely objects but sentient beings who require companionship and affection. It encourages pet owners to be mindful of their pets’ emotional needs and to make time for quality interactions with them.

Additionally, the video raises questions about the role of daycare facilities in caring for pets. While daycare can provide a valuable service for working pet owners, it is essential to ensure that these facilities are equipped to meet the emotional and social needs of the animals in their care. The video suggests that there may be opportunities for daycare facilities to improve their practices and provide a more supportive environment for pets.
