Dog Who Spent 472 Days in Shelter Finds Forever Home
After a staggering 472 days of patiently waiting, RoRo, a resident of the Angel of Assisi Shelter in Arizona, finally found her forever home during the shelter’s adoption event.
The shelter celebrated this heartwarming adoption, sharing the joyous news on their Facebook page on November 27th. “Finally, during our Pet Expo Adopt-A-Thon last Saturday, RoRo met her human,” the sheltered shared.
They went on to share about RoRo’s journey revealing that she was brought to the shelter when her family, faced with unforeseen circumstances, was forced to surrender her to the shelter.
“Animals like RoRo are why we do what we do, RoRo has been at the shelter 472 days,” the shelter shared. “She was brought into AoA after her family suffered a loss which caused them to move and they could no longer afford to take care of her.”
The shelter noted also that RoRo had had a surgery to remove a cancerous mass and had severe allergies, which caused her to have some hearing loss that needed to be managed daily.
During her over one year stay in the shelter, RoRo was said to be “a happy, playful and loving dog” with the “kennel staff often going into her space on their breaks to spend extra time with her.”
while there weren’t many potential adopters lining up for Roro, according to the shelter, she had an Angel Ambassador who took her for weekly outings to “help keep her spirits up and give her extra attention.”
RoRo’s life however took a dramatic turn on on Saturday, November 23 during the shelter’s Pet Expo Adopt-A-Thon event when she finally met her adopter Kathy. “Kathy fell in love immediately and we know RoRo’s feelings were mutual,” the shelter shared.
Angels of Assisi also reveals that RoRo has quickly settled into her forever home complete with a spacious yard. They shared their excitement for the next chapter in Roro’s life, further revealing that Kathy expressed gratitude for RoRo’s presence in her life.
“She has quickly settled into Kathy’s loving home (and giant yard!). Kathy says RoRo is in fact the one who rescued her, and she’s looking forward to growing together in the years to come. We are so excited for RoRo’s next chapter in life!” the animal shelter shared.
Photos shared along with the post depicts the beautiful moment when RoRo was adopted, her tail wagging with excitement as she bonded with her new owner. Other photos show her thriving in her forever home, frolicking in the yard and relaxing peacefully on the couch.
The news of RoRo’s adoption has sparked widespread celebration, with countless well-wishers flooding the comment section. One user expressed their delight, saying, “Have a lovely life together, Kathy and RoRo. Thank you, Angels of Assisi, for your care of RoRo and all your advocacy.” Another added, “What a beautiful happy ending for RoRo. Thank you to Kathy for offering her a life of love.”
Even those who had the pleasure of RoRo’s company before her adoption shared their heartwarming experiences. One person commented, “I have enjoyed having RoRo at my house. She is so full of love and energy. It has been a great and enjoyable time with RoRo. Kathy made a great choice for adopting RoRo. She is a blessing and I know that she will get lots of love and kisses with Kathy and the family.”
Another individual shared a personal connection, saying, “I worked this event for MHC SPCA and spotted this sweet girl looking at me. I talked with her awhile. Such a sweet girl. So glad she found her furever home!”
