Moment XL Bully Acts as Birthing Partner for Pregnant Cat

Despite the ban and restriction of American Bully XL in many countries due to the high-profile fatal attack associated with the breed, a lady has taken to social media to show how gentle, caring, and friendly her XL Bully can be with not just dogs but a cat and her kittens.

In a video shared on Tiktok on August 8, an XL bully named Gunner captured the hearts of millions online for his extraordinary role as a birthing partner for a pregnant cat.

Despite the negative remarks associated with the breed, Gunner’s actions challenge the preconceived notions about XL bullies. The video depicts the dog’s unwavering presence throughout the cat’s pregnancy and delivery, offering a stark contrast to the aggressive behavior often attributed to the breed.

The viral video which has received over 8 million views on TikTok showcases the gentle giant patiently accompanying the cat through the labor process, guarding the cat’s birthing box, offering comfort, and providing reassurance and companionship as she prepares to give birth.

Gunner’s owner who shared the video under the username @gunner_stunner recounts how Gunner was initially removed from the room when the cat began showing signs of labor. However, the cat began to cry and search for her canine companion prompting the owner to bring Gunner back.

Throughout the hours-long ordeal, Gunner can be seen in the video remaining by the cat’s side, checking in on her regularly and offering a comforting presence. His gentle demeanor and patient nature were evident as he lay nearby, his eyes fixed on the cat.

The overlaid text in the video reads, “My XL bully was my cat’s birthing partner. I removed him from the room when our cat started showing signs of labor, but she would cry and come looking for him. When he came back she would settle again in her box. He stayed with her for hours being patient, keeping her company. Even though it took a long time, he waited and checked in on her respectfully.”

The video also captures the moments following the birth of the kittens, showcasing Gunner’s tender bond with the kittens. The XL bully is seen gently sniffing and licking the kittens, displaying a level of affection and care as if they were his own.

Gunner’s owner revealed on the overlaid text that despite advice to keep Gunner away from the kittens, they allowed the two animals to interact from day one. The cat family grew up alongside Gunner, and he remained a gentle and protective presence throughout their time in the home.

“Despite advice we let gunner interact with them from day one. the kittens grew quickly and Gunner still always kept mama company and was gentle from day one until the kittens went to their forever homes,” she wrote.

Online viewers have been moved by the story, with many praising the owner for her responsible pet ownership and challenging the negative perceptions of XL bullies, arguing that the breed’s temperament is largely influenced by the way it is raised.

One user commented, “Now THIS is what good pet owners with XL bullies are like! It’s not the breed it’s the owners and your clearly brilliant. He’s so gentle and caring. Well done mama.”
