Ella Wick Candles, a TikTok user, has moved viewers to tears with a heartbreaking video documenting the final moments of her nearly 13-year-old dog, Lady Lamington.

The video, shared on November 22nd which showcases the dog’s deteriorating health and her final passing has garnered significant attention and sympathy.

The video depicts Lady Lamington, visibly weakened by illness, struggling to walk alongside her canine sibling, Duke. The overlaying text reveals the difficult decision the owner faced and her unwavering commitment to honoring a promise made to Lamington’s mother.

“When it’s your last day on earth. It’s time, Lady, time to meet your mum at the bridge,” the text reads. “I made a promise to Lamington’s mum that I would love and look after her until her last breath. And if you know me, I don’t break promises.”

The video continues, capturing the heartbreaking scene of Lamington sharing “last kisses” with Duke. The owner can later be heard sobbing in the background as she strokes the lifeless body of her pet. “bye Lami,”  she whispers as she sobs, while Duke sits nearby, visibly saddened.

In the caption the pet owner known for her handcrafted candle creation  shared how Lamington’s passing has left a void in her life and forcing her to pause her candlemaking endeavors. She also confessed that saying goodbye was the hardest decision she ever had to make.

“Too sad to make candles today,” she shared in the video caption. “Lady Lamington came into my life because her mother passed away and I made a promise to love & look after her, and to never let her suffer. These last few months have been hard on Lamington. She was in PAIN. The hardest decision of my life.”

In the comments, the owner who had been with the dog since November 30, 2011 explained  the difficult decision to euthanize Lamington, citing the dog’s deteriorating health due to a tumor and subsequent complications.

She revealed that Lady Lamington had suffered from a tumor, which was removed three years ago. However, in recent months, the dog’s health had deteriorated significantly, making it unable to get up or care for itself.

“Lady Lamington was suffering. She was in immense pain,” she shared. “She had a tumour removed three years ago and for the last few months has been unable to get up and the last few weeks soiling herself.”

She shared additional details about her loss, explaining that she had previously lost another dog, Leo, in March. She expressed concern for Duke, who has been diagnosed with a mast cell tumor and is struggling to cope with the loss of his companion.

The video has touched the hearts of many prompting a flood of empathetic comments. Many expressed condolences and offered words of comfort.

One person shared, “My heart goes out to you. These are the hardest days we ever have to face, but the kindest last gift we can give our fur family members.” Another wrote, “You made the hardest decision, but it was for her best interest. She is free from pain. Find some comfort in that and wait for her visit: a shadow in her favorite place, a weight on the bed.”

While many focused on offering support, some expressed concern about the other dog, Duke. One user wrote, “Duke is broken. My heart goes out to him. I’m so sorry for your loss. Pls extend your care and support to Duck as he mourns the loss of his companion.” Another asked, “Her beautiful friend was with her till the end too. Who is the big dog who stayed with her? Absolutely stunning, what a beautiful way to go.”
