“While in Mexico, we got a call that a stray dog nearby needed help,” the rescue team explained in a video first shared on May 6, 2021. “He had a severe case of mange and clearly had been abused. Even though he didn’t trust humans, he let us briefly give him to a local shelter. He screamed and tried to bite when being put in the car out of fear. We drove him to Los Adoptables, an incredible shelter in Ensenada.”

“While on the Outside Simba was getting cuter and fluffier, on the inside his trauma-based reactivity was getting worse. If you pet him in the wrong way he would try to bite you and because of that nobody called to adopt him,” a spokesman for the team said in a video.
Undeterred by the challenges, the team at Animal Pad, a dog rescue team in San Diego, embarked on a rehabilitation program, placing Simba under the care of their behavioral specialist. “They had an immediate connection some say it was love at first bite and so after 2 long years of searching Simba finally found his person into place to call home,”
